FEBRUARY 18 2011
FEBRUARY 10 2011 CCP have now signed up with digital distributors Tunecore in order to market Shapeshake 2025 and all future CUT 72 releases through iTunes and Amazon. FEBRUARY 6 2011
FEBRUARY 2 2011 Digital Tunes - the specialist online Electronica store that CUT 72 have been working exclusively with - have rejected Shapeshake 2025 on the grounds that the EP is not, in their opinion, Electronica. This somewhat bizarre decision on their part has now caused major problems and the EP's official release date has now had to be put back until alternative arrangements can be made for digital distribution and retail. Several no-holds barred emails have been sent to Digital Tunes demanding a full explanation for their decision but the company have refused to co-operate. JANUARY 4 2011 Shapeshake 2025 pre-release reviewed in The Fly magazine: "The latest release from North Wales’s Industrial Electronica pioneers grabs you by the throat and doesn’t let go. Four tracks of unrelenting powerhouse rhythms, evil bass and distorted lead synths coupled with strange and ghostly noises that do not belong on this earth. The overall effect is huge, dark and very impressive - arguably their best work yet." JANUARY 2 2011 The Shapeshake 2025 EP is currently being mastered by Welsh cultural catalyst Alan Holmes ready for release. SEPTEMBER 6 2009 Insane Asylum track Cell 4 played on Adam Walton's Magical Mystery Tour show (BBC Radio Wales) prompting the comment: "....reverberates with a real kind of menace - as if I'm going to be attacked by hordes of strange machines as soon as I get out of the studio". Also mentioned: "Gary Cut is a seminal and instrumental figure of the North Wales Electronic music scene". JULY 1 2009 Insane Asylum reviewed in The Fly:
"Featuring vocals from
cult Japanese cyberpunk writer Kenji Siratori, Insane Asylum builds in intensity
from the dark ambient Eraserhead-esque atmospherics of Cell 1 to the apocalyptic
and huge voodoo machine rhythms of Cell 7. Using Siratori's voice to create many
of the instrumental sounds on the album the end result is a challenging,
disturbing and powerful work." CUT 72 now on Last-FM JUNE 7 2009 Insane Asylum is officially released today on CCP and is available to download from Digital-Tunes. JAN 13 2009 Gary Cut has now set up a new production company - CUT Central Productions (CCP) - to handle all future music, multimedia and film releases. Any similarity to the cult German label CCP that shafted CUT TUNES in the mid-90s is purely coincidental. Insane Asylum will be the first release under the CCP mantle, shortly followed by Cell 6 Redux - a remix EP containing 4 reworkings of the 6th track on the album. These will be the first released tracks featuring acclaimed Canadian vocalist Laurie Gordon - lead singer with Montreal-based Indie band Chiwawa. JAN 04 2009 After the completion of the CUT 72 album Insane Asylum featuring acclaimed Japanese cyberpunk author Kenji Siratori it has been revealed that Hypermodern - the Japanese label scheduled to release the album - is experiencing financial difficulties due to the world-wide recession.
